Babichi Agro Forestry PLC is a honey and other bee products producing, processing and marketing company based in Wollega and Ilu/Ababor, within the Oromiya Regional State of Ethiopia. Currently Babichi works in partnership with over 700 smallholder beekeepers organized under eight cooperatives. Sourcing from its partner cooperatives, Babichi markets table honey and beeswax primarily to the EU region.
Particularly, Babichi targets the market segment that appreciates organic and fairtrade food products. Babichi is a business primarily engaged in out-grower based commercial beekeeping, crude honey processing and in marketing of table honey and refined beeswax as end products.
Babichi currently markets Organic Forest Honey, which is poly-floral honey as the nectar comes from the forest flowers. Babichi is located in a densely forested and largely coffee growing areas of Wollega and Ilu/Ababor, in Western Ethiopia. The area contains a vast spectrum of plants in its largely forested year-round green nature. In addition to the Forest Honey, Babichi offers refined Organic Beeswax for EU markets.
