Established in 2000, Honeycare is an innovative private sector social enterprise promoting sustainable community-based beekeeping in Eastern Africa. It was set up with a triple bottom-line agenda, with emphasis on generating economic, social and environmental value through its activities. As a member of IFAT, Honeycare provides guaranteed market for honey produced at fair-trade prices.

We have recently received HACCP Certification, an International quality and food safety certification. We support over 9,000 small-scale beekeepers, most of whom are women, with over 17,000 Langstroth hives across rural Kenya helping them earn a supplementary income. Close to 3,000 rural households rely on this make the difference between living above or below the poverty line.
